Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujat Hussain on Thursday said that Fata should be made part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to remove deprivations of people of Fata. While talking to his party's senior vice-president Ajmal Wazir Khan, the PML-Q president said, "People of Fata are Pakistani citizens and patriotic, therefore, they should given equal rights like other Pakistanis."
He added that Fata is focus of international attention for quite some time; however, status of Fata was not recognized due to political exigencies. "There is national consensus regarding status of Fata." Shujat recalled that when he had become the prime minister, three days after taking oath, meeting regarding Fata reforms was convened in which heads of all political parties of the country participated along with officials concerned and it was agreed that Fata will be brought into national mainstream and for this purpose, a line of action was also approved. During the meeting, party's organizational matters in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Fata came under discussion besides country's political situation.
