A search operation against the suspects continued in the provincial metropolis for second consecutive day and the police took some 40 citizens into custody on Monday night. The police held search operation in the Iqbal Town division with a strict checking of the identity documents of residents of the area. It also made biometric verification of residents on the occasion and eventually arrested 40 suspects on account of suspicious identity.
Police sources said search operation would continue ahead as well, which was started on a tips from intelligence agencies that chances of a terrorist activity are high in the city.
The citizens have also witnessed deployment of police force on leading roads along with the barriers. This step had slowed down traffic flow on leading roads including The Mall road. Meanwhile, the rescue personnel and bomb disposal squad were also on their toes to deal with any untoward situation in the city, added the sources.
