A man was killed while two accused have been arrested here on Tuesday, police claimed. According to police, a man identified as Mehtab Ahmad son of Fazal Ahmed aged 60, found dead inside a house in Zafar Town near Quaidabad in the jurisdictions of Shah Latif police station. A handkerchief was found around his neck, police told adding that the incident might be a result of family dispute as the wife of victim fled from the house. However, the investigations are underway.
Unknown men hurled a hand grenade near Imam Barghah Saqqa-e-Sakeena located in North Nazimabad Block-Q in the jurisdictions of Share Noor Jahan police station, grenade could not explode and later Bomb Disposal squad defused it.
In an encounter, the police claimed to have arrested 2 alleged street criminals from Awami Colony Korangi area. A spokesman of Police quoting the SP Landhi Arif Rao said 2 accused Raheel and Arshad were looting people on gunpoint at Bagh-e-Korangi Sector-10 near graveyard; a police party intervened and arrested them in injured condition after exchange of fire. 2 pistols with loaded magazines and a motorcycle No KIU-9053 as well as snatched purses, cell phones and other valuables have been recovered from their possessions. Initial interrogations suggested that they are residents of New Karachi and committing street crimes in the areas of Landhi and Korangi. Cases are being registered against them, he added.
