Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed the concerned authorities to dispose of the public property of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Punjab. A proposal covering all aspects of the land should be sent to the Chief Minister Secretariat for approval.
He was presiding over a meeting on the disposal/auction of C&W land at Bakhar (Punjab) which was attended by Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, Additional Chief Secretary Azam Khan, SMBR Afzal Lateef and administrative secretaries at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar on Tuesday.
The meeting was told that the C&W had different chunks of land in Bakhar (Punjab) both agricultural and commercial.
Chief Minister formed a committee to thrash out modalities for the disposal of public property through open auction and directed that a summary should be moved for the open auction of the land.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister in another meeting hinted at a joint venture with the Chinese company for the development of public property on commercial lines. The province needed to be a viable federating unit and this aim could only be achieved through expending its resource base. The government had already initiated a commercialisation drive to develop the public property of different public entities in order to generate resources to help the province to stand on its own feet.
He also directed to plan shifting of all 'bus addas' (Bus Terminals) in Peshawar to the main terminal. He hoped that commercialisation drive to develop the public property will become a permanent source of earning for the province.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, Additional Chief Secretary Azam Khan, SMBR Afzal Lateef and administrative secretaries.
In another meeting, the Chief Minister directed for the open auction of timber of windfall. The province needed to have a total sell out of the timber in different pockets.
To a question, the Chief Minister said that obstructing the auction of timber was meant to support the hoarding that his government would never allow and that would also slow down the process of scientific cutting of forests.
Pervez Khattak appreciated the good works done by forests department and urged its officials to continue the auction of timber through an open auction approach at market rate. The international community has appreciated the billion tree tsunami project which is the 4th biggest at international level and the 1st biggest project at provincial level.
Chief Minister was also informed that the complete success of the project would depend on the proper watering and protection of plants under the billion tree tsunami for the next two years.
