Former Chairman Lahore Stock Exchange Group Captain Naeem Ahmed Khan (R) died on Tuesday after a protracted illness. He was around 80. He was bed-ridden since the death of son, Junaid Khan, a heart surgeon about a year back. He was also former Chairman of Federation of Euro Asian Stock Exchanges and had organised an international conference in the city that was attended by 22 heads of stock exchanges from the Europe.
He was also instrumental to the capital market reforms in the Lahore Stock Exchange following a financial aid of $250 million from the Asian Development Bank.
Former President Farooq Leghari, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, former caretaker Prime Minister Meraj Khalid and former Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz had also visited the Lahore Stock Exchange during his tenure as Chairman LSE.
He was a management and capital market expert of par excellence and highly respected among the stock exchanges throughout Pakistan. He was known as an elderly figure throughout his active years at the LSE.
He was first cousin of renowned writer late Ashfaque Ahmed Khan, maternal uncle of Dr Jawad Sajid and Lady Diana-fame Dr Hasnat Ahmed.
