On the directives of Chief Executive, Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) Anwar UlHaq Yousafzai drive against illegal use of electricity has been accelerated throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this connection a surveillance team under the supervision of Deputy Director Masood Khan raided in different areas of Peshawar, Khyber and Swat circles and nabbed 99 electricity pilferers.
During the drive 42 power pilferers were caught in the areas of Warsak-1, Urban Sub-Division Charsadda, Sardhery, Town-1, 2 Sub-Divisions Peshawar of Peshawar Circle. Similarly, 25 power pilferers including slow meters of wielding shops, crush machines were nabbed in the areas of Khyber Circle while a tube well in the jurisdiction of Nowhere Cantt-1 Sub Division.
Furthermore, 32 power stealers nabbed in the jurisdiction of Daggar-1, Daggar-2 Sub Divisions of Swat Circle including meter of sub jail building, tube well of civil hospital, Ishfaq Marble factory, 3 water supply schemes, Dargai Levy, TMA. During the checking in the areas of Timergara, and Talash eight power pilferers were nabbed using direct connections.
A spokesman of PESCO has said that drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks will continue and warned to stop power pilferage in the larger interest of the nation. He said that due to power pilferages PESCO has to face financial losses on one hand and on the other hand whole distribution system become over loaded and resultantly the general public faces has to face inconvenience of frequent power breakdowns.
