"Technical Educational and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab recommended establishment of new Technical and Vocational Training Institutes in 10 districts and to start courses in 17 sectors in Gilgit-Baltistan." It was stated by Chairperson TEVTA, Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing the officers of TEVTA on Friday.
He also said recommendation of TEVTA Punjab will promote technical education and vocational training system. Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that GB government requested Punjab government to extend their cooperation for the promotion of Planning & Development, Health, Education, TVET and Disaster Management sectors in their area.
Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif directed TEVTA to prepare the feasibility report mentioning training needs assessment (TNA). TEVTA send its team for complete study for the promotion of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. Irfan said that TEVTA has recommended to open new Government College of Technology for male, Government Technical Training Institute (male) and Government Vocational Training Institute for Women in each district.
Six-month short courses may be started in 17 sectors including auto mobile, electrical & electronics, mining & minerals, transit trade, services, hospitality, tourism, health & paramedics, civil/construction, wood working, food, agricultural & live-stock, mechanical, information communication technology & media, beautician, textile & fashion designing and gems & jewellery, he added.
Punjab government has forwarded the recommendations of TEVTA to GB government for further necessary action by them. Chairperson TEVTA further said that we have also recommended establishing proper structure of TVET system. Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Aamir Aziz, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Rao Rashid, Maqsood Ahmed, Aisha Qazi, Uzma Nadia, Dr Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Sarfraz Anwar and other officers were also present on this occasion.
