The leader of the visiting Turkish furniture manufacturers' delegation, Mehmat Kirtas, on Friday said that Turkish furniture companies want to enhance business with Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) by holding business-to-business (B2B) meetings and seek ways to do business together.
"We want to do business by undertaking joint ventures either in your country or in our country and we are looking forward to sharing technology with Pakistan," Kirtas said during his visit to PFC head office along with other delegation members including Musoot, a leading Turkish furniture tycoon.
The delegation took keen interest in Pakistani furniture products and thoroughly discussed the ways and means for boosting the furniture trade especially office furniture and strengthening the existing business relations among the corporate sectors of two countries on modern lines.
Mehmat said Pakistan's furniture with calligraphic engraving has great demand in international markets which seems to be the dominant one in Pakistan, therefore Pakistani craftsmen should focus on working in this particular area to earn the much-needed foreign exchange. He said Pakistan has excellent craftsmen and designers who could virtually give life to a piece of wood. Pakistan also has potential to capture its share in the international market because local industry in Pakistan has the finest wood available in country.
Musoot, another Turkish leading furniture producer, said he was confident that the trade relations between Pakistan and Turkey would grow in the days to come. He suggested the exploration of avenues other than textiles such as leather products, surgical goods, sports goods, fresh and dry fruits, furniture, fans, air conditioners, marble, handicraft, pharmaceuticals and cement.
