On the directives of Chief Executive, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Anwarul Haq Yousufzai, drive against illegal use of electricity has been accelerated throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this connection a surveillance team conducted raids in different areas and nabbed 113 more power pilferers in Peshawar, Khyber, Swat, Bannu and Mardan circles.
As many as 11 power pilferers were caught in the areas of Lala sub-division, Peshawar while 31 more were nabbed in areas of Pabbi-1, Pabbi-2 and Pirpiai sub-divisions in which two flour mills also included for slow meters. Similarly, in the areas of Rustam, Par Hoti sub-divisions of Mardan Circle, 13 power pilferers were nabbed while 34 were caught in the areas of Urban Bannu, Cantt sub-divisions of Bannu Circle.
During the checking in the areas of Chakdara, Talash, Madyan, Batkhela, Timergara sub-divisions of Swat Circle 25 power stealers nabbed. A spokesman of Pesco said that drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks would continue and warned to stop power pilferage in the larger interest of the nation, due to which Pesco had to face financial losses on one hand and over burdening of the distribution system on the other and general public faced inconvenience of frequent power breakdowns.
