Shifting by December 12 ordered: Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers' parking terminal becomes functional
Deputy Mayor Karachi, Dr Arshad Vohra said that Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers' Parking Terminal has been completed and functional, directing the transporters to park their bulk oil carriers at the newly developed parking facility.
As many as 2,375 oil tankers can be stationed at the Terminal at a time. The government has also developed infrastructure for over 10,000 people. "The development work at the 150 hackers parking terminal has been completed and all necessary arrangements including police check posts, tire tube shops, Masajid, banks, restaurants, hotels, some 128 washrooms, water tank, and medical stores have been made," the Deputy Mayor said this while presiding over a meeting pertaining to the tanker parking issue at his office recently.
Vohra hoped that the parking facility would help improve the traffic situation of the city. "The transporters - who are used to parking their tankers at Shireen Jinnah Colony, Bilawal Churangi, Sohrab Goth, Quaidabad and other locations, are now strictly directed to shift their tankers to the Zulfiqarabad Parking Terminal by December 12. Strict actions would be taken against those defying the law," he warned.
Vohra said various meetings were conducted with the transporters over the tanker parking issue. The government tried to convince them to park the tankers at designated location time and again, but despite commitment they did not bother to do so. "We are left with no choice but to give them final directions. We are taking assistance from law enforcement agencies," he concluded.
