The fashion industry of Pakistan is showing a marvellous and incredible success in national and international markets. It presents a complete colour story, charming designs, trendy packages, and glamorous patterns. Today designers and textile brands like HSY, Maria B, Sana Safinaz, Asim Jofa, Nomi Ansari, and Ali Zeeshan, GulAhmed, Nishat Linen, Firdous etc are internationally known for presenting impressive un-stitched, stitched, formal, and casual dresses for their customers.
A big and notable change in the fashion scene of Pakistan first seen in late 80s. A high profile group of designers and models took up the responsibility of introducing trendy outfit to mass community. The designers set up the corner stone of Pakistan fashion industry by staging first catwalk show in Karachi.
Frequent fashion shows by notable brands and designers attracted international buyers and helped to boost the fashion industry of Pakistan. The most notable fashion week were PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, Bridal Couture Week, and PFDC L'Oreal Paris Bridal Week, etc set the platform for designers and models to exhibit their talents to the world. Senior designers Maheen, Deepak perwaani, Nomi Ansari and Rizwan Bayg showcased their collections at the Milano Moda Donna (women's) Spring/Summer 2010 season, organised by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and got big applaudes.
Today Pakistani fashion designers and fashion models are well known on international level. No doubt, the Pakistani fashion designers have put their heart and soul in their new prints, giving their trusted customers a fresh new look.
Fariha Altaf the owner and CEO of Catwalk Productions that she formed in 1989 described the gradual progress of fashion industry of Pakistan in an article as, "I have conducted more than 2350 events by introducing unique fashion-concepts and have hosted numerous fashion shows including twelve 'Lux Style Awards.' I have also been closely associated with bringing fresh modelling talent to the blossoming fashion industry."
She added "Despite all odds. Alongside veteran designers, newcomers have also stepped into the field to play out their aesthetical senses to not just revive but also extrapolate upcoming trends. Be it the colour palate, the fabric, the texture or the print, they are meshed together into a designer's master quality. The eccentric collections and/or theatrical fashion performance envision the forthcoming trends, and perfectly display the genius lay in a designer's clever layering of color and prints. It can proudly be stated as a fact that, with new and foreign investors viewing Pakistani soil as one that may come bearing fruits and profits for their business venture, the fashion industry is surely on the right path to achieve an unprecedented success globally".
Nadia Hussain:
The presence of Nadia Hussain in fashion shows is assurance of the show success. Beautiful, stylish and glamorous, Nadia has the true personality of a super model. She is no doubt a fashion diva of Pakistan showbiz. She is a Pakistani television actor, host, model entrepreneur, and fashion designer. Nadia spent her childhood in media circle because of her auntie Teena Sani, a famous singer. As a kid, she did crystal toothpaste ad and a video shot for her Auntie.
She is a multi-dimensional woman with a perfect figure, gorgeous look, unique style and genius mind. She runs a beauty salon, launches lawn collection, and owns a brand 'Fetish' for footwear.
Nadia got a professional degree of dentistry (BDS) from Fatimah Jinnah medical college. She would have been pursuing her profession as a dentist", but in 2000, she selected modelling as a professional career at the beginning of her career she shoot winter collection of Lakhani silk mills. At that time, she was 20 years old and just had completed her levels. It was Mubashir Khan who introduced her officially as a Model first time.
In modelling, she thinks Iraj as her mentor. She is the winner of Lux Style Award for Model of the Year (Female), Lux Style Award for Best Model (female). She was the only Pakistani model to have been chosen by Rizwan Beyg for the Sarajevo Fashion Week.
Nadia is regarded as the fittness queen of the fashion world. She said in an interview that "I'm normally pretty regular with my work out. I love doing yoga, pilates and aerobics. I do not follow any particular diet plan and normally has home-cooked food. Portion control is something I do which is basically minimising the quantity of food I eat, instead of having a full roti, I'll end up having half."
"I start my day with a bowl of porridge and warm milk. I'm not a tea or coffee person at all - it's diuretic and affects you skin also, drink a lot of water and fresh juices. I'm not fond of sugary, fried or junk food but yes if there's some really good chocolate cake lying around the house, I will have it."
Usman Patel:
Gone are the days when female models stole the show, today male models are equally important for the success of every fashion event. Meet young generation's ideal fashion model Usman Patel. Based in Karachi, Usman possess all qualities of a showstopper model; he is confident, stylish and elegant. Usman belongs to a Gujarati family and graduated in computer science from the Iqra University. He debuted his career as model when senior choreographer Imran Kureishi gave him first break for Veet Fashion Show. Usman's prosperous modelling career, which started in 2008, has made him fashion industry's most in-demand male model.
Usman has performed in numerous international and national fashion shows. He enjoys working with top seeded designers. Nilofer Shahid shows in Turkey, Pakistan fashion week New York, Mercedes Benz fashion week Doha, Shaan-e-Pakistan New Delhi, Fpw, Bcw are Usman's memorable shows.
Usman's passion and enthusiasm led him to enter the world of glam and glamour. "I am very passionate about modelling. I had been enthusiastic to become a fashion model since I was very young. I believe that a complete knowledge, your personal skill and effective communication are must to get the success in the fashion industry."
The secret of Usman's success in fashion world is his fitness, down to earth personality, right attitude, professionalism and sense of discipline. These days Usman is showing his talent in acting under the banner of Big Bang entertainment.
"I am very conscious about my diet. I never skip breakfast. For healthy bones, weight management and overall good health I do my fitness exercise regularly," adds Usman.
Usman advises the newcomers in the fashion world that don't let success go to your head, remain grounded, be humble. Make sure you surround yourself with good people. Be the very best you can be, every day. Modelling is a competitive field the only way to stand out is to have passion and love for it.
Winter Fashion Trends in Pakistan:
This season, designers and top textile industries have brought exclusive new linen, silk, and khaddar prints with super-bright prints, exquisite embroideries and plush velvets for their customers. For example, classy Gul Ahmed pashmina collection 2015 dresses with embroidered front, printed back and sleeves, pashmina shawl, and printed shalwar the prices starting from Rs 4,500.
Famous designer Maria B has launched her winter collection which includes both linen and pashmina fabrics. You can select straight panelled khaddar shirt with embroidery on center panel and hem border, screen-printed side panels and sleeves along with screen-printed borders, screen-printed shawl, and plain cambric trouser. Prices are between PK Rs 6,300 to PK Rs 6,700.

When it comes to winter wear, your winter wardrobe is incomplete without jeans. Trendy jeans are available in affordable price (from 1000 Rs to 3000 Rs). A huge variety of men's winter wear is getting popularity among young generation. The year 2015 is a successful year for the fashion industry of Pakistan. The end of the year has marked with a mega event of Bridal courture week held in Lahore by a telecom company. The Bridal Couture Week featured both the veterans and young designers that showcased their talents.
