Virtual assistants and smart speakers have previously done plenty of creepy things and one of them is doing it again by telling owner that all it sees is people dying.

Recently, the smart speaker Amazon Echo was claimed to say a creepy statement that disturbed the owner. Shawn Kinnear, 30-year-old owner of the device said that his virtual assistant Alexa, being totally unprovoked, activated herself and blurted out a creepy statement saying, “Every time I close my eyes, all I see is people dying.”

Kinnear told Metro US that it was the most uncomfortable silence he has ever felt. He said that he asked Alexa to repeat what she said, but Alexa instead replied that she did not understand and thus, Kinnear didn’t get the chance to record it.

Since it was a longer statement, Kinnear said that he purposely stopped to listen. “Alexa was in the living room. I had Amazon Prime on TV but it was paused. I walked back in from the kitchen and she made her statement.”

Kinnear pointed out that Alexa spoke in her normal and cheery voice. He wasn’t sure what caused Alexa to blurt out such a statement, but he said it was enough to consider unplugging the device.

However, previous incidents show that this isn’t the first time that Alexa has creeped out owners. It was earlier reported by various owners that their Echo devices were giving ‘bone chilling’ laughter, and also ignoring their commands. In one incident, Amazon Echo also sent a family’s private conversation to a friend without their knowledge, wrote Daily Mail.
