Chief Commissioner directs to ensure strict security during polls

ISLAMABAD: Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration Joudat Ayaz Friday directed district departments to coordinate with each other for ensuring security arrangements of key buildings during elections in federal capital.
The chief commissioner chaired a meeting, which was also attended by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Jan Muhammad, Director Administration Asim Ayub, ADC (G) Shoaib Ali, SSP (Operations) Najeeb ur Rehman Bagvi, AIG, Special Branch, Liaqat Hayat Niazi and DIG Security Waqar Ahmed Chohan etc.
The participants of the meeting reviewed the general law and order situation in Islamabad with reference to general election and security arrangements for the Election Commission buildings, polling staff and polling stations including security of printing press.
Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Joudat Ayaz, while addressing the participants of the meeting, directed to ensure effective coordination among all the related departments and timely share of intelligence reports.
The ADC (G) Shoaib Ali informed that contingency plan is being finalized with the coordination of all concerned departments and with active support of law enforcement agencies.
He further told that all the facilities at the polling stations including drinking water, electricity, ramps for the disabled, washroom would be ensured and survey in this regard has been completed.
He further told that installation of CCTV cameras at the polling station has also been completed.
The meeting was informed that a control room will be established in the office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad on the occasion of general elections and main control room will be established in Safe City Control Room and the polling stations would be connected with the safe city center.
SSP, Islamabad Najeeb ur Rehman Bagvi also informed the participants about the deployment plan of police force at the polling stations and other buildings.
It was also decided that the Assistant Commissioners and SHO will also hold corner meetings with the workers of political parties regarding implementation of code of conduct for elections.
