BAHAWALPUR: Jamaat-e-Islami Bahawlapur Monday urged the government to ensure procurement of wheat to six million tons on time in order to avert losses faced by farmers that bore heavy losses due to closure of sugar mills in the region.
Two-day training session for JI activists was held here at Jamia Mosque, Haque that was addressed by JI parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly, Dr. Waseem Akhtar and others.
According to a press release issued here, JI Bahawalpur emphasized the need that the government should ensure wheat procurement to six million tons to save farmers from any further loss.
"Farmers community recently suffered heavy financial losses as sugar mills did not procure all sugarcane crops from them," it said.
