Malala Yousafzai returns to Pakistan after six years

KARACHI: Malala Yousafzai, activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, arrived in Pakistan on Thursday after six years.

According to media reports, the Taliban victim along with her family members arrived in Islamabad will meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other senior government functionaries.

Malala left Pakistan in 2012 after surviving an assassination attempt by Taliban. Taliban gunmen shot Malala in October 2012 as she was returning from school. She suffered bullet injuries meanwhile admitted to the Military Hospital Peshawar. She was shifted to London for further treatment.

She has become an internationally recognized symbol of resistance to the Taliban's efforts of denying women education and other rights.

In 2013, Malala and her father Ziauddin co-founded the Malala Fund to bring awareness to the social and economic impact of girls’ education worldwide.

In 2014, Malala became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17 in recognition of her efforts for children's rights.
