ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has launched a programme to utilize solar energy to overcome shortage of electricity.
A Spokesman of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) told Radio Pakistan that under the programme, about rupees six hundred million have been spent on converting tube wells to solar energy. Similarly, efforts were underway to convert four thousand five hundred mosques to solar energy.
The spokesman added that work on solarizing one hundred villages across the province will start next week.
About two hundred Basic Health Units were also being converted to solar energy to provide uninterrupted power supply to them.
