Dubai officials, employer help Pakistani man reunite with mother

After living for six long years in separate countries, a Pakistani man residing in Dubai recently reunited with his parents, thanks to his employer and UAE officials.

A teary reunion was seen at Dubai International Airport as the Pakistani driver met his parents, who made a stop at Dubai while traveling to Karachi from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah.

Back in 2012, Tahir Ayoub traveled to Dubai from Peshawar at the age of 21 to look for a job. Ayoub found work as a driver for a government company, however, little did he know that he won’t get the chance to meet his family back home, Khaleej Times reported.

According to Ayoub, he was unable to visit Pakistan because he did not have enough money. “I didn’t have enough income to go home and see them. My mother always asked me to come home and get married, but I’ve been working to save up here.”

In hopes of reuniting Ayoub with his parents, his employer arranged with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) to help him meet them during their transit at the airport before their flight to Pakistan.

Director of passport control department, Lt. -Col. Ibrahim Hamad arranged the meeting for the family at a private hall. Ayoub, who now resides in Sharjah, took his mother in arms as she could not hold back her tears upon seeing her son after years of being separated.

“My mother has a very special place in my heart, and I couldn’t help but cry upon seeing her. I had been upset I wouldn’t spend Mother’s Day with her but thankfully my wish to see her came true,” he said.

Gulf News quoted GDRFA Director-General saying, “We wanted to make the son and his parents happy. Serving people is the true meaning of happiness.”
