A recent incident of smartphone explosion recently killed an Indian teenager when she was talking on call while charging the phone.

The 18-year-old Indian girl, Uma Oram, passed away in a tragic accident when she had her smartphone on charge and was simultaneously on call with a relative. Before the family could figure out, Uma fell unconscious.

According to Metro, according to her brother Durga Prasad Oram, “As the battery of the mobile phone was draining out, she plugged it for charging while talking over it simultaneously. The cell phone was put on charging when she started talking to a relative. Its battery exploded suddenly. Before we could know what exactly happened, Uma fell unconscious. She was declared dead at the hospital.”

The girl suffered injuries on her chest, leg and hand. Though she was immediately rushed to a local hospital, she failed to survive and was informed of passing away because of terminal injuries. According to her brother, the phone was said to be Nokia 3310, whereas, the pictures of the exploded smartphone depict that the phone might be Nokia 5233.

HMD Global was set-up last year as the new manufacturer of Nokia phones for creating a new range of Nokia devices. According to them, the smartphone involved in the incident was not manufactured or sold by them. “As HMD Global, we are committed to producing high quality handsets which deliver a strong user experience and meet high customer expectations,” stated HMD Global.

Moreover, as per Deccan Chronicle, the police are still investigating the incident along with gathering evidences, whereas Uma’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
