Pakistan middle order batsman Sohaib Maqsood, shared about a life threatening experience which later turned into the proudest moment of his life.

Talking about the ill fated fire incident that occurred at Regent Plaza, Karachi in 2016, Maqsood, who is now part of the Multan Sultans at Pakistan Super League (PSL) revealed about how they rescued a family from the fire.

“It was a very dangerous situation; we were there as we were part of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy tournament, I alongside my friends rescued a family including children, one was a five years old and the other one was probably three years old,” revealed Maqsood, quoted local media.

“We rescued them and ourselves, but when we saw the smiles on the faces of those children after they were saved, that was the proudest moment of life, more than all the centuries and achievements on the cricket field,” he added.

The middle order batsman has played a number of memorable knocks, particularly the one against Sri Lanka, where he shared a record partnership stand with Fawad Alam

The massive fire took away scores of lives and injuring dozens of people, a number of Pakistani cricketers were also injured including domestic cricket all-rounder Yassim Murtaza who suffered ankle break as he jumped from the balcony to save his life.
