Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan filed on Thursday a plea at an anti-terrorism court (ATC) seeking acquittal and exemption from appearing during the proceedings regarding four cases of 2014 sit-ins.

According to local media reports, Khan appeared before the ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, and also sought an exemption from appearance in court. The judge then adjourned the hearing to February 26.

Speaking to the media after court proceedings, referring to deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the PTI chairman said that unlike 'royalty' he did not need protocol. "I am a regular citizen of Pakistan.''

ATC grants Imran Khan bail in all four cases

Khan also applauded PTI's Ali Tareen, son of Jahangir Tareen, who was the candidate for the NA-154 by-elections in Lodhran and managed to get more that 90,000 votes.

Khan has been accused in cases pertaining to attacks on senior superintendent of police Ullah Junejo, PTV office and parliament during sit-ins back in 2014 and forcibly releasing the suspects.
