Search committee of PM agrees to form ToR's for appointment of new Chairman HEC

ISLAMABAD: The Search Committee constituted by prime minister for the selection of new Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) has agreed to form Terms of References (ToR's) and publish of an advertisement for the post.

According to the sources on Wednesday, the first meeting of search committee was held here at Ministry of Education, under the Chairmanship of Convener Babar Ali to discuss the appointment of new HEC chief.

The search committee has formed code of conducts for the merit based appointment of new Chairman while an advertisement in this regard would also be published in the current week.

The sources also shared the details of an advertisement in which the minimum compulsory qualification for the post of Chairman HEC would be Post Graduate. While, sources added that around 20 years of experience in the field of higher education would also be compulsory.

The candidates having PhD qualification would be given preference, sources added. The members of civil society, Professionals and educationists, would be able to nominate any eligible person, the explained.

According to the pattern of advertisement every candidate would have to write an essay consisting of at least two thousands worlds in which they will share their suggestions for promotion and development of higher education sector and abilities to run HEC.
