The book on theme, "Vital Water Signature Services, "The Prefect" by Engineer Shahnawaz Khan launched on Thursday. In this regard, a formal launching ceremony held at University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Peshawar, which attended by a large number of dignitaries and intellectuals to pay tribute to services of the legend.
The ceremony aimed to recognize the contributions of Engr. Shahnawaz Khan in regard to Water and Energy. Shahnawaz, while addressing at ceremony said since the three dams Mangla and Tarbela and Warsak were built in a reasonable time period of 15 years, not a single dam has been constructed in last 37 years. He urged to take prompt action at policy level to take the country out of energy crisis.
Abdul Rehman Mian, author of the book said it was important to pay tribute to the signature services of Engr Shahnawaz on water and building water reservoirs and dealing with the critical issues, Pakistan was facing in 1974. "The stories are rich in detail and intend to teach the future generations about the success of pioneers and motivate them to follow the same path," he remarked.
The Vice Chancellor Imtiaz Gilani emphasized over the need to take indigenous steps to deal with the energy crisis. He said that UET in collaboration with HEC and USAID is establishing the Center of Advanced Studies in Energy, which would involve the experts to deal with the present energy issue and offer practical solutions.
