At least three armed bandits were killed while another injured in two separate encounters at various parts of the metropolis here on Saturday. According to police, the Docks police came under attack when they intercepted a bike carrying three young men near TCF School in Macchar Colony. "Although the alleged bandits engaged in encounter with police for at least 15-20 minutes, no police official was reported hurt in it," said SHO Docks Madad Ali Zardari.
He said all of the bandits got injured during police retaliation and were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where two of the armed men succumbed to their wounds during treatment while one other survived. He said the police had recovered three TT pistols and a snatched motorbike from their possession.
He said the deceased persons, who were identified as 28-year-old Ayub Muhammad Shahab-ud-din, 30, were nominated in several heinous crimes including four murder cases and over a dozen street crime cases. Moreover, he said the injured person, who was known as Shahid Pir Muhammad, during initial course of investigation revealed that they were spotted by police when they were returning to Orangi Town from Macchar Colony.
Another alleged bandit was killed while his other accomplice was arrested after brief encounter at Al Fateh Colony in the limits of Site (A) police station. The incident took place at Al Fateh Colony where the team of Anti Extremist Cell (AEC) on a tipoff tried to raid to nab the culprits. But the suspects showed stiff resistance just to get escaped from the scene. During cross firing, a bandit received fatal bullet wounds and died on spot while his other accomplice was also arrested. Police recovered a Kalashnikov and two TT pistols from the spot. CID officials said the bandit was identified as Safiullah, 38 son of Habibullah while the detained person was Hanif. They said these bandits were involved in several cases of robberies and other heinous crimes and the raid for their arrest was conducted at Al Fateh Colony near Bara Board. Further investigation was underway.
