The USAID funded 15 community schools have launched educational activities to educate school children in Swat district. The US relief agency has initiated the project in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Peace and Development Organisation (PADO).
The purpose of the project is to target out of schools children of all age, says a press release here on Sunday. The Managing Director, PADO Ziaullah Khan Sunday inaugurated a community school in Union Council, Bahrain Swat.
Beside, local elites, academicians, Programme Manager, Furqanaullah, Finance Officer, Shiraz Naseer, Accountant Asif Ali and other staff members attended.
Speaking on the occasion, Ziaullah Khan said that the launching of the informal educational project will help promote educational activities in the backward areas and will prove a milestone in the eradication of illiteracy.
He said under the US funded project, 15 schools will be established in Union Councils of Madiyan, Bahrain and Tirat to provide free education to 1500 children. He said that the students of the informal schools will also be provided free textbooks, notebooks and other things. The students of these informal schools will complete primary course in three years. He requested the participants of the function for extending co-operation to their organisation in attracting children to educate maximum number of children and play role in improving the standard of education.
On this occasion, the residents of the area had termed the launching of informal educational a good omen for the area and requested for extension of the project to all other union councils.
Later, the Managing Director PADO along with staff members and local residents visited an informal schools established in the union council and appreciated the services.
