KP transporters, traders reject hike in POL, CNG prices

Transporters and Traders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have out-rightly rejected the unprecedented hike in PoL products and CNG prices, demanded of the government to immediately withdraw it, saying that the decision would increase inflation and unemployment.
The gradual increase in petroleum commodities would directly affect the poor people because prices of essential daily use item and fares rates will go up after the POL price hike, said Haji Ehsanullah, president Sarhad Public Transport Legal Action Committee, while talking to this scribe here on Sunday. He further added that step was tantamount to economic genocide of poor transporters and masses.
He said that the prices of essential commodities are already at record high level after consistent increase in PoL products, situation would further worsen after recent increases.
Khan Zaman, president Public Transports Owner Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the step was tantamount to economic genocide of poor transporters and masses. "We strongly reject the recent unprecedented hike in petroleum and CNG prices", he grumbled.
He criticised that the government had failed to provide any sort of relief to poor masses, adding that anti-masses policies have multiplied their miseries.
Haji Haleem Jan, a senior vice president All Pakistan Trader Alliance, said that the surging prices of petroleum commodities would hamper business and trade activities already affected by terrorism and insurgency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that business community was the worst sufferer in the prolonged militancy and insurgency situation of the country, whereas the government anti-masses policies were further deteriorating the situation.
Haleem Jan said that the spiralling prices of Petroleum, gas, electricity would direct affect poverty-stricken masses. He warned that the traders would launch a joint agitation movement against the government anti-masses policies.
Shafarat Ali Mubarak, Central president Anjuman-e-Tajraan Cantonment said that the spiralling prices of petroleum commodities was a disappointing step of the government, saying the decision would cause manifold miseries to poor masses Khalid Ayub, Chairman Tajar Ittehad University Town, Peshawar said that the government had failed to fulfil its commitment for provision of Roti, Kapra and Makan.
He added that skyrocketing prices of essential commodities has made the life of common man miserable and termed that the direct and indirect taxes was tantamount to economic genocide.
