Former Jamaat-i-Islami Chief, Qazi Hussein Ahmad on Saturday said that they have no objection over the negotiations of United States with Taliban but he said that the real representative of Taliban is Mulla Omar and he should be taken on board in this regard.
Speaking in a Meet the Press programme under the auspices of Peshawar press club, he said that they support the establishment of formal office of Taliban, so the people will know about their agenda. He said that Taliban is a reality and political force that had compelled the United States on withdrawal from Afghanistan. However, he said the mechanism of their rule is not acceptable to the world. He called for the inclusion of ulema in the decision making body of Taliban. For this purpose, he said that the constitution of Council Islamic Ideology (CII) on the pattern of Pakistan to resolve the matter.
The former JI chief alleged the involvement of foreign hands in the lawlessness of the financial capital Karachi. He said that the city is being targeted as it is gateway to the region and Central Asia. He said that people of Pakistan required awareness to bring honest leadership into power.
He said that current year is the year of the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, which required the establishment of democratically elected government and initiating of dialogue amongst different Afghan groups to search out solution to the issues and fill the vacuum.
Similarly, he said that Pakistan is facing energy crisis, but has the potential of generating 40,000MW hydropower, while the nuclear energy capacity could be easily increased from the present capacity of 800MW to 8000MW and Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline to be completed.
He said that Iran has already laid pipeline till Pakistani border and now it is turn for Pakistan to connect it with its gas supply line. He said that the project is lifeline for the economy and meeting energy shortage. To a question he expressed ignorance about the objectives of the formation of Defa-e-Pakistan Council.
