Engro Corporation and Fertilisers celebrated Earth Hour by organising a candle light vigil at their head office under the lead of Wajid Junejo under Green Office Initiative in a step to show solidarity with the global activity to showcase support for climate change and reduce environmental footprint under WWF umbrella.
The Earth Hour was first initiated in WWF-Australia where Sydneysiders were inspired to show their support for climate change action. In 2011, Earth Hour saw hundreds of millions of people across 135 countries switch off for an hour. Engro as a responsible corporate citizen also held this ceremony to highlight the grave climate change issues that continue to have long term impact of the environment of the plant.
Engro is also one of the few organisations that are certified as 'Green Office' by WWF - a practical programme to reduce carbon footprint and negative environmental impacts of corporate sector entities. Through the Earth Hour and related events Engro aims to play its role in creation of an environmentally aware society for a better and brighter tomorrow.-PR
