Hundreds of traders on Saturday held a protest demonstration against load shedding and fuel adjustment surcharge in electricity bills by the MEPCO authorities. The protest rally was organised by the Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran, was started from Chowk Bazar and reached the Ghanta Ghar via Hussain Agahi, Lohari gate Cooper.
The protesters were chanting slogans against outages in the lead of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran central president Khawaja Muhammad Shafiq, Khalid Mehmood Qureshi, Trade representatives from Sarafa Bazar, Haram gate, Bogar Gate, Pak gate, Kalemandi, Boahar gate, Circular road, Hussain Agahi, Chori Sari, Andhi Khoi and other adjacent markets participated the demonstration.
They were holding banners and different placards bearing slogans against severe load shedding. Addressing the protesters, central leaders made it clear that no trader will pay fuel adjustment surcharge, demanding the authorities to abolish it completely forever. They warned the govt to end power cuts within seven days otherwise traders from all markets of the Southern Punjab will besiege and lock the MEPCO offices.
