Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab has criticised the PML-N for violating Section 144 by taking out protest rally on the Mall Road and urged the Lahore High Court (LHC) to take notice of the violation.
Addressing a press conference at the PTI Punjab office on Saturday, both Ahsan Rashid and Mian Mehmood-ur Rasheed, the provincial and city presidents, respectively, said the PTI had not begged for quashing of FIR from the Punjab government, as the PTI has not violated the law by holding rally on the Mall Road.
It may be noted that the city government has imposed Section 144 against holding rallies on the Mall road on the demand of traders. The PTI had held a rally the other day, followed by registration of FIR, which was later on quashed by the Chief Minister Punjab.
The PTI leadership said the LHC should hold inquiry as who has violated the law from among the PML-N or the PTI. The PML-N has forced Punjab government employees to participate the protest rally, they added. They also criticised the Punjab government for increase in debt burden on the province. According to them, the PTI has put forward application for registration of FIR against the PML-N leaders for violating Section 144 by holding rally on the Mall Road and all options would be utilised in case the Punjab government showed dilly-dallying attitude.
