Minister for Labour Welfare Punjab, Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi has said that additional resources have been provided to accelerate the efforts for prompt achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), whereas, the major focus of the government is on protecting the health of people trough strengthening of Primary Health Care & Disease Preventive Programmes.
While talking to various delegations, Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi said on Saturday that rural and basic health centres are being upgraded for the provision of modern health facilities to the masses and free medicines to the patients is being provided at DHQs and THQs.
He said that huge resources are being spent on the rapid development of the province, promotion of quality education, elimination of ignorance and unemployment as well as provision of prompt and inexpensive justice to the masses. He said that despite financial constraints huge funds were being spent on annual development programme as well as on development activities in health sector during current financial year. He said that the Punjab government is giving due importance for the provision of state of the art health care, latest education and best residential facilities to the labourer community. He said that government is providing required funds for the completion of on-going development projects launched by the labour department, whereas, new welfare schemes would also be initiated specially for the provision of modern education to the children of labourers and residential facilities to them.
