Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan Ltd (CCBPL) has announced the successful conclusion of their participation in the MARCON 2012, and the expansion of CCBPL's Corporate Social Responsibility programmes in Pakistan. At this year's conference, the CCBPL hosted an honorary lunch to introduce their involvement in Resettling the Indus project.
The lunch was a special event where Zohair Mahmood, Director of CCBPL's External Affairs, spoke about the importance of the project to the company and the people of Sindh and Punjab whose homes are being rebuilt.
Headed by Hyder Ibrahim, Resettling the Indus is an initiative set up in response to the 2010 Floods in Pakistan, by a group of architects and urban designers, with a vision of empowering communities through a self-sustaining process, without disturbing the indigenous cultures and lifestyles. RTI seeks to re-grow a village using locally available material, and domestic labour, so as to remove costs and obstacles created by contractors and middle men. Coke will be providing the RTI with funds and logistic support in their project.
The Citizens Foundation is a professionally managed, non-profit organisation set up in 1995 by a group of citizens concerned with the dismal state of education in Pakistan. It is now one of Pakistan's leading organisations in the field of formal education. As of 2011, TCF has established 730 purpose-built school units nation-wide with an enrolment of 102,000 students.
Rotary is a world-wide organisation of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries. In nearly 105 years, Rotary has grown from a small club of four members to a world-wide network of men and women who share a common vision for a better world. The world's first service organisation, Rotary has a long history of helping those in need and uniting people of different cultures and beliefs.
As part of the CSR campaign, CCBPL also hosted a dinner at the Marriott on the theme of 'Together We Can Make it Happen'. The dinner was attended by such luminaries of the business and professional world as Hussain Dawood, Tariq Ikram, Nayyar Ali Dada.-PR
