Pakistan Thursday said that its technical delegation will visit Moscow early next month to explore possibilities of Russian companies' investment in Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project amid Chinese reluctance to invest in the multi-billion dollar venture over fears it could be hit by sanctions.
Responding to queries of reporters during a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said that a Pakistani technical delegation would visit Moscow early next month to have discussions with relevant Russian authorities and companies including Gazprom for investment in the project. "So let us see and wait what would be the outcome of this visit," he added. AFP adds: The quest for alternative sources of funds began when the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) failed to sign up to a consortium to finance Pakistan's $1.5 billion share of the project.
