US soyabean futures soared to a six-month high on Monday as diminishing crop prospects in Brazil, projected to be the top exporter of the oilseed, helped fuel investors' appetite. Soyabeans for May delivery traded up 19-1/2 cents, or 1.4 percent, at $13.85-1/4 a bushel as of 10:40 am CDT (1540 GMT) at the Chicago Board of Trade. Corn and wheat prices also rose.
CBOT May corn was up 7-1/2 cents or 1.2 percent at $6.54 a bushel. US wheat prices rose on short-covering, with CBOT May up 13-1/4 cents or 2 percent at $6.67-1/2 a bushel.
