Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo on Wednesday said it was a landmark achievement of the government to bring the foreign policy for debate in the parliament. He said it happened first time in the history of the country that the foreign policy was discussed in the parliament which was a representative forum of the nation, says a press release issued here.
He mentioned the former foreign policies were based on the whims of non-representatives which did not represent the desires of the nation. He said that opposition had sought some time to ponder upon the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee of National Security and the government was willing to give them the time. Wattoo said PM Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani was the only one in the history of the country who had appeared twice before the higher judiciary and proved that he honoured and respected the higher courts.
