Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Khalid Shameem Wynne who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka called on Commander of Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Jagth Jaysuriya in Colombo. Chairman discussed matters related to mutual interest and measures to further the existing close military ties, says a press release issued by ISPR.
Later, Chairman visited Kilnochchi in Northern Sri Lanka where he was briefed by Security Force Commander on the ongoing Humanitarian Operations. General Khalid Shameem Wynne witnessed the conduct of the demining operations in the field area. The chairman appreciated the efforts of Sri Lankan Armed Forces in establishing safe and secure environment for the Sri Lankan people which served as an example for others to emulate. He also visited the natural harbour at Trincomalee and was briefed about the significance of this port by Commander Eastern Naval Command.
