About 80 per cent of small and old tax refund cases have been disposed of in Regional Tax Office Faisalabad and preference is being given to reduce the tendency of refund claims. This was stated by the Chief Commissioner, Inland Revenue Faisalabad Muhammad Ashraf Khan during a meeting with Pakistan Textile Exporters Association and Chairmen of All Punjab Textile Associations Council on Wednesday.
A separate desk is being established to tackle the payment of refund regarding the cases decided in favour of tax payers by appellate tribunal or appellate authorities and such pending cases would be sorted out soon, he said in response to a query. Taking up the issue of black listing of suppliers and buyers by the Directorate of Intelligence and of blocking refunds of industrialists and exporters, chief commissioner said, this matter has been agitated at various in the country and the FBR is actively engaged in resolving this issue and hopefully some positive result will come out soon, he stated.
He asked the members of the Associations to forward concrete proposals based on their arguments to enable him to take up the matter with Directorate General of Intelligence and work out practical solution.
He said that we have already apprised the Directorate not to block the industrialists and manufacturers of Faisalabad arbitrarily but refer the matter to Regional Tax Office. He said, he had recommended to the FBR authorities not over burden the small sectors like Sizing and Power loom, which were not contributing much value addition and to facilitate these productive and important chain linking sectors. The Chief Commissioner promised to help out and remove genuine difficulties problems of textile industrialists and exporters.
Earlier, Rana Arif Tauseef, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association in his welcome address pointed out the hurdles faced by textile exporters in refund regime. He said that suspension of refund on account of black listing of supplier or buyer is creating financial problems for industrialists.
He suggested that in case of black listing or suspension of registration of a supplier or buyer, department must intimate to the association for circulation among members. Regarding provision of CNIC numbers of non-registered buyers in Sales Tax return, he apprised the Chief Commissioner that this condition was disturbing the business activities.
He requested for withdrawal of SRO 191. He requested the Chief Commissioner about speedy deposal of pending sales tax claims under section 66 and remanded back by the tribunal. He said that the claims of Special Excise Duty are still pending and requested for expedite disposal of these cases.
Qamar Aftab, Vice Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association, Mian Ajmal Farooq of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association, Imran Mahmood Vice Chairman All Pakistan Bedsheet and Upholstery Manufacturers Association, Shakil Ansari, Chairman All Pakistan Textile Sizing Association, Khalid Mahmood Cheema, chairman All Pakistan Cotton Power Looms Association, Muhammad Asghar, President Small Power Loom Association, Shahzad Siddique Chaudhry Vice Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association, Waheed Khaliq Raamay, chairman Council of Loom Owners, Nadeem Ashfaq Puri, Chairman All Pakistan Embroidery Association also attended the meeting. Later, shields were presented to FBR Regional officials.
