This refers to the March 13 hearing of a suo motu case involving alleged massive corruption of 22 billion rupees in the Pakistan Steel Mills, by a bench of the Supreme Court.
As was reported, during the proceedings of the apex court, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, emphatically stated that, "corruption has ruined Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Steel Mills." The Chief Justice went on to declare that, Pakistan Steel Mills was a "classic case of corruption" in which "big fish" were involved.
A traumatised, helpless and beleaguered nation, watching in abject aghast, accelerated ruination of once these thriving public sector entities, being destroyed by an inept, incompetent and corrupt to the core clique of merry-making, joyriding, inconsequential rulers, running this impoverished nation and taking it to the brink of disaster of unimaginable proportion and consequences.
During a TV interview, telecast some weeks ago, the interviewer, when brought the issue of ruination of these public sector organisation to the attention of Asif Zardari, he outrightly dismissed the allegation and state of ruin of these companies by saying that, he did not 'see' them as being ruined as viable organisations.
