Although Sindh Planning and Development department initiated work towards the preparation of ADP 2012-13, even then Provincial Education Department could utilise only Rs 0.72 billion out of Rs 1.14 billion released funds of Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2011-12 during eight months from July to February.
Planning and Development Department initiated work on the making of ADP 2012-13 since February and the first edition has been printed out consisting of proposals of schemes of almost all departments. Well-informed sources told Business Recorder on Saturday that total allocation for all schemes of Education department is Rs 7,832.016 million which includes Rs 1,289.792 million for new schemes, Rs 6,643.208 million for ongoing schemes and Rs 99.016 million for one outside ADP Scheme.
There are 104 schemes of Education Department including 26 new and 77 ongoing schemes and one scheme of outside ADP including 4 schemes of Elementary Education, 3 schemes for teachers' education, 4 for Education Foundation, 13 schemes for Secondary Education, 55 schemes of College Education, 24 miscellaneous schemes and one scheme outside ADP, sources said. Sources further said that though education department has not utilised all funds released for allocated schemes still some projects have been established; Public School is being established at Umerkot and Government-Senior Model School is being established at Jamshed Town Karachi, postgraduate courses are being introduced in 4 existing degree colleges, Law college is being completed at Hala New, Sindh College of Arts and Design is being established at Sukkur, Quaid-e-Awam University/College of Engineering Science and Technology at Larkana and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Law College is being constructed at Larkana.
Education Complex is being constructed at Karachi, Computer Labs are being provided in schools of Sindh and Master Course for Teachers Training is being implemented under new schemes, sources added. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology is being constructed at Bhit Shah while Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Engineering College is being established in Memon Ghoth, Gadap Town Karachi while the building of Intermediate College for Boys is being constructed at Qazi Ahmed, sources added.
