Ivorian cocoa prices decrease

Cocoa farmgate prices in Ivory Coast's main growing regions fell last week as few buyers remained to bid for the dregs of the main crop. A stretch of dry, windy weather in the world's top grower cut the October-to-March main crop short and left the remaining trickle of beans small and of poor quality.
Farmers said prices in Daloa ranged between 450 CFA francs ($0.90) and 500 CFA per kg, compared with 500-550 CFA/kg the previous week. In the western region of Soubre, at the heart of the cocoa belt, farmers said the average price fell to 500-600 CFA/kg, from 600-650 CFA/kg.
