Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman Mumtaz Haider Rizvi will visit Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on March 13 to discuss the issue of mandatory condition of CNIC/ NTN for all purchases made by any unregistered person.Almost all the trade bodies of the city have rejected the repeated moves made by FBR to unilaterally impose condition of obtaining buyer's CNIC and sought the help of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to pursue the government to withdraw it.
The chamber approached FBR chief and invited him to discuss the issue and reach on an amicable solution. The trade bodies demand that FBR should not burden the already registered taxpayers by imposing condition of furnishing CNIC/NTN for their sales because business and industrial community, already facing manifold problems like power, gas and water shortage, law-and-order situation and weekly two holidays.
Sources said that budget for the year 2012-13 and taxation measures and prevailing economic conditions, high power, gas and oil prices, high cost of manufacturing will also come under discussion The business community will also discuss issue of KESC which harassing industrialists by chopping out their power connection on the pretext that they are not using sanctioned load.
