Chairman, Steel Exports Association of Turkey and Leader of Turkish Steel sector delegation, Namik Kemal Akinci said that Pakistan is a very important trading partner of Turkey. Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday, he said that the purpose of visit is to see Pakistan steel market, hold one-to-one meeting and develop contacts with Pak steel sector.
He said that the delegation comprises of steel manufactures and exports and they all want to have good relations with steel sector and get clear picture of Pakistan steel requirements. The Chairman informed that Turkey is producing around 34 million tons of quality steel and it exports high quality steel to around 200 countries in the world.
He further said that Turkey is likely to become 8th largest steel producing country by next year. He said that Turkey is meeting 90 percent of Dubai and 100 percent of Saudi Arabia's steel demands. He invited KCCI to visit Turkey to see the steel sector there. President KCCI, Mian Abrar Ahmed, said that Pakistan is energy and steel deficit country and it needs co-operation in these sectors. He said good prospects exist to have joint ventures in these sectors as well as in other sectors. He emphasises the need of boosting regional trade.
