An alleged dacoit was killed in an encounter with police at Jamia Cloth Market traffic signal, police said on Thursday. The police also arrested two accused of street crimes in separate encounters. According to police, three bandits were looting at Jamia Cloth Market when Preedy Police received information and rushed to the spot. On seeing the police the bandits started firing in a bid to escape.
The police started counter firing as a result Mukesh was killed while his two accomplices managed to flee. The police registered an FIR against the accused. Police also recovered a snatched bike bearing number plate SKL-9813, a mobile phone and cash. The police lodged a case number 145/2012 and started further probe. In an another operation two dacoits were arrested red handed in North Nazimabad area in the limits of North Nazimabad Police Station, police sources said. Police identified the criminals as Majid Ansari and Azam.
According to the details, North Nazimabad Police on a tip-off when arrived on the spot, four bandits on two motorcycles were on looting spree at Niaz Bus Stop, the police started snap checking in the area upon which they spotted four bandits on two motorcycles and asked them to stop.
The two bandits identified as Zeeshan and Danish fled while the others were caught by the personnel. Police sources said that during the initial course of interrogation the arrested persons said that they had snatched gold a few days ago outside a marriage hall in Nazimabad while the cell phones were snatched in separate incident of street crimes. Police also seized pistols, snatched motorcycles and gold ornaments.
Case has been registered against the accused. Meanwhile Khwaja Ajmair Nagri police arrested four dacoits in an encounter and after lodging FIR number 95, 96, 97, 98 and 99/2012 started further investigation. Police of all five districts of the city apprehended 17 suspects including proclaimed offenders during last 24 hours in a crackdown on criminal elements to curb crimes in the metropolis, police claimed on Thursday. The police also had held two encounters and busted a dacoit gang. The police recovered 5 pistols, a revolver, a dagger and a mobile phone from possession of the accused.
