LSE gains 18.47 points

Bullish sentiments prevailed on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Wednesday and the equities registered further gains amid ascending transaction volume following fresh buying in select scrips. The lSE-25 index was further improved by 18.47 points and was closed at 3550.02 against 3531.55 of Tuesday while transaction volume was increased to 9.435 million shares as compared to last day volume of 7.379 million shares.
The market was opened on a positive note and stayed in green zone almost throughout the day. As a result the fertiliser sector's shares including Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Engro Corporation helped improve market sentiments. Similarly, Engro Foods, SME Leasing, Pak Electron, Pioneer Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Adamjee Insurance, Byco Petroleum, Bank of Punjab, National Bank, Lotte Pakistan PTA and Arif Habib Corporation also ended with gains.
On the contrary, the oil sector's companies like Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, OGDC, PSO and Attock Refinery remained under pressure due to profit taking. United Bank, Bank Alfalah, Lucky Cement, Nishat Mills and Hub Power also stayed in minus column. The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 115 active issues, 35 companies posted gains, and 27 went down, while 53 companies remained unchanged at their previous closing.
Fauji Fertiliser gained Rs 3.51, Engro Foods was improved by Rs 2.10 while SME Leasing and Pak Electron were up by Rs 1.00 each. Pakistan Oil Fields lost Rs 9.33, PPL was declined by Rs 2.97, OGDC was depreciated by Rs 2.45, while PSO and United Bank were down by Rs 2.44 and Rs 2.43 respectively. Fauji Cement topped the volume leaders with trading of 2.099 million shares while Bank of Punjab stayed as runner up with 1.950 million shares.
