Two killed in private training plane crash

A small training aeroplane crashed here in Model Town area on Thursday, killing both a woman pilot and trainee pilot on the spot. The two-seater Cessna 152, belonging to Hybrid Aviation took-off from the Walton Airport on a training flight but the plane crashed in the compound of a house in Model Town area.
The residents of the house remained unhurt. Deceased trainer pilot and trainee pilot are identified as Anita Qureshi and Waqar Asif, respectively. The cause of crash could not be confirmed. Rescue workers and other concerned officials rushed to the site and retrieved the bodies from wreckages of the plane.
According to a Civil Aviation Authority Pakistan (CAA) spokesperson, it is too early to ascertain the cause of crash. An inquiry committee will investigate the crash and its outcome will be made public once it is concluded. Speaking to Business Recorder, Hybrid Aviation owner Mohsin Syed claimed that the aircraft, Cessna 150 (call sign AP-BCS), was 100 percent fit for flying, but the unfortunate incident was result of the mistake of trainee pilot.
"Due to trainee pilot's error, the plane stalled," he added. He said that the aircraft with instructor Anita Qureshi and student Waqar Asif were on routine flying in Walton Circuit and crashed in H Block of Model town. "There were no causalities on the ground, both the pilots died and their bodies shifted to Jinnah Hospital for autopsy," he added. He disclosed the CAA and Hybrid Aviation are jointly investigating the reason of crash, which will be made public by the CAA.
He contradicted a news item that his company office is sealed and added that none of his aircrafts are grounded. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, upon receiving the report about the Cessna crash at 143-H Model Town, reached the site and sought information about the tragic incident. He expressed his sorrow and grief over the death of the pilot and the co-pilot of the plane and said that he equally shared the grief of the bereaved families.
