Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Mian Nawaz Sharif Saturday said the party would not allow anybody to vilify judiciary and parliament. Addressing a function of Engineering University students, Nawaz said: "Dictators had caused much harm to the country and gave 'gifts' like load shedding. Now no one would be allowed to violate the Constitution and law and suspend the judiciary and parliament."
He said PML-N had brought change by restoring judiciary on March 16, 2009. Referring to speeches of Imran Khan, the PML-N President said some people are hoodwinking the youth by raising the slogan of change. He said the credit of starting process of change in Pakistan also goes to PML-N. He reminded that in 1991 he gave the agenda of 2010-11. He said that we had not taken loan for development projects like motorway.
"We started work on the economic reforms agenda of Muslim League-N but the supporters of old and slave economy joined hands and stopped the process of change. We constructed airports, seaports and motorways and removed the restrictions on foreign exchange. We restored the self-respect of Pakistanis working abroad by setting up green channels at airports," he said. He said that free economy was introduced in the country and the present modern economic structure is based on our policies which was also praised by our neighbourers and followed our policies. Had our government not toppled, Pakistan would have been the most prosperous country of the region today, he added. He said that in his tenure Pakistan was on the path of development and India had agreed to purchase electricity from Pakistan.
Nawaz said: "What is the change, how it is brought and what price of it is paid, we know better than anyone else," he said. Nawaz said inflation has made the lives of masses complicated. Prolonged load shedding and gas shortage have added to the woes of people. He said Shahbaz Sharif has announced that he will distribute 100,000 laptops among deserving students. He said he had directed the Punjab chief minister to distribute another 200,000 laptops after next year's budget.
