US Consul General in Karachi, William Martin toured the construction site of a $5.3 million complex that will be the new home of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley - Masjid Quaba, along with leaders of the Pakistani-American Muslim community.
"Financed entirely by private contributions from members of the American Muslim community, the building, when completes, will include a State of California-funded charter school, mental health counselling, classes to teach Quran in English and Spanish, Islamic research libraries, tax assistance, a mortuary, elderly day care, and dental services, in addition to comprehensive religious services, making it one of the most comprehensive Islamic centers in the US," said a press release issued, here on Friday.
Martin was joined on the tour by Dr Syed Arif Ali Rizvi, President of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley, Adnan Khan, President of the Council of Pakistani-American Affairs, Shafquat Chaudry, President of Muslim-American television station "Bridges TV," Michael Wolfe, a renowned producer of films and documentaries about Islam in America, and Kevin Murakami, Public Affairs Officer with the US Consulate General Karachi.-PR
