Guwar prices rise sharply on grain market

Published Updated

Modest trading was seen on the wholesale grain market on Tuesday where guwar prices went up sharply due to tight supply and strong demand, experts said. On the cereal side guwar Sindh low type was higher by Rs 600 to Rs 8000 and best quality was up by Rs 500 to Rs 8100, guwar Punjab followed the same pattern, as low type showed an increase of Rs 300 to Rs 7700 and good type appreciated by Rs 200 to Rs 7800, wheat old and new Bardan adopted the same path, rising by Rs 10 to Rs 2700-2715, respectively, they said.
On the rice sector Irri-6 Sindh low type picked up slightly by Rs 20 to Rs 3000 and the best quality held the last level at Rs 3050, they said. On the seeds side, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low variety fell sharply by Rs 150 to Rs 650 and good type shed Rs 50 to Rs 800, they said and attributed the fall to strong supply position, which pushed the rate down and present trend may continue in the coming days, they said. Grams items held the overnight levels in the absence of proper demand, they said.
