Australian and New Zealand dollars slip

Published Updated

The Australian and New Zealand dollars slipped on Monday in a broad risk retreat as worries about further eurozone rating downgrades and uncertainty following the death of North Korea's leader pushed Australian debt futures to new highs. The Aussie dollar slipped three quarters of a cent to $0.9908 vs $0.9987 in late NY trade on Friday.
It lost 2 percent last week tough it did manage to bounce from lows around $0.9862. Traders said the Aussie was set to test Thursday's low of $0.9862 with $1.0052 capping the topside. The New Zealand dollar traded with a soft tone and last stood at $0.7580, having climbed to $0.7645 at one stage, from $0.7620 in late Friday trade in New York.
