Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan on Friday said there was no other forum except Supreme Court to probe memo scandal and people have full confidence in the apex court. Speaking at a press conference, he said that challenging memogate scandal issue in Supreme Court by PML-N was a right decision as it was a very sensitive matter of national importance and needed to be probed on priority basis.
He said that his party fully favoured democratic system and would not accept any unconstitutional move. "The military dictators have done enough damage in the past as about half of the population is living below the poverty line therefore, another martial law could not be tolerated," he added.
He said that Qureshi was appointed as vice chairman of the party after consulting all senior party leaders as he was the most senior politician and has a clean record throughout his political career. Responding to a question regarding his talks with US ambassador Cameron Munter on Thursday, Khan said he took the same position as was taken before the public and people would find no divisions in his stance at any point of time, as he joined politics with the sole objective of bringing peace and prosperity to the country, making it corruption free. Regarding calls for resignation by ISI Chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha over memogate issue, he said Supreme Court was dealing with the issue and hoped that a fair probe would unveil those responsible.
He went on saying that tsunami of PTI was coming to root out the prevailing system and claimed to be the only leader who had earned abroad and spent in Pakistan. The tsunami of change has just started which nobody could stop, he added. Khan said that the rulers had turned deaf ears towards sufferings of the masses, due to which the masses have been forced to lead life in miserable conditions.
The self-directed and misguided policies of the sitting rulers, he added, the country was passing through severe crises. He assured that PTI would lead Pakistan in the right direction and the country would never be subservient to any superpower. A large number of lawyers from Rawalpindi Bar Association along with their supporters joined PTI.
