IDPs of Bara, Khyber Agency: Tribal elders for special compensation package
Tribal Elders of Bara and Khyber Agency have demanded of the government for special compensation package on the pattern announced for the IDPs of Malakand division and Bajuar Agency. They also demanded for provision of food assistance and other livelihood at their makeshift camps in Jalozai, district Nowshera.
The demands made by President Khyber Union, a social Organization of tribal areas, Haris Khan Afridi while addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, here on Friday. He said the IDPs from Bara were facing enormous difficulties following huge mass exodus from their hometown.
He was flanked by Secretary Information, Basmillah Jan Afridi and Suhbat Khan. He said that owing the prolonged announced curfew in Bara, life has come to a complete halt, whereas a number of people, including women and children were injured during the ongoing operation. Houses and roads have been damaged in unprecedented bombardment, he said.
Afridi said that the foreign funds were not used and no development took place in tribal areas. He demanded that the development funds and Fata parliamentarians allowance should be spent on the welfare of the IDPS. He appealed to the Chief Justice Supreme Court, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take notice of human right violations in the tribal areas and demanded for special relief package for Bara IDPs on the pattern of IDPs of Malakand and Bajuar Agency.
